Job description

Job Objective: Work with children and adults in the corps and community to plan and implement a music program that includes teaching theory, performance skills, music, and values.

Essential Functions:

1. Provide quality piano accompaniment for choir programs, including weekly rehearsals, recitals, concerts, and performances throughout the year.
2. Work with corps leadership to plan and attend all recitals, prepare music programs, and participate in end-of-year concerts.
3. Encourage participants to develop musical abilities, discover talents, and foster self-esteem and pride in the program.
4. Assist in ensuring performances promote the purpose of the Corps in the community.
5. Encourage participation in summer camps to develop talents and spiritual growth, and assist in planning camper participation.
6. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Experience: At least two years of music experience working with children and/or adults; performance experience preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: None required.

• Proficiency in music theory and primary instrument.

Supervisory Responsibility: None

Physical Requirements: Light physical work, frequent use of instruments, equipment, and standard office tools. Reasonable accommodations available.

Travel: Occasional travel required.

Driving: Valid driver’s license required; must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program.

Working Conditions: Moderate to high noise level in a program environment.
