Job summary

Utah Tech University in St. George, Utah invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor or Instructor of the Practice of Physics to begin Spring Semester 2027.

The role includes teaching undergraduate physics with laboratory components and performing campus-wide duties such as advising and service. Salary ranges are $58,000–$61,000 for the Instructor of the Practice and $64,000–$67,000 for the Assistant Professor, with benefits and potential summer overload compensation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics or related field required for Assistant Professor.
• M.S. in Physics or related for Instructor of the Practice or the alternative option with a B.S. and industry experience.
• Teaching experience with laboratory components preferred.
• Ability to work well with faculty, staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Teach 24 credits (Assistant Professor) or 30 credits (Instructor of the Practice) of lecture and/or laboratory courses annually.
• Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours and advising students.
• Attend department, college, and division faculty meetings and participate in program management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
