Job summary

CSU Bakersfield is seeking Instructional Student Assistants for Physics and Engineering to support courses through grading, group activities, and lab assistance. Applicants must be matriculated students at CSUB and available for up to 20 hours per week on campus.

Positions are open for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 with applications reviewed each semester; salary scales vary by department, starting at $17.86 per hour. You will work under the Department Chair and assigned instructors.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to instructors by grading papers in a variety of courses or facilitating group work and discussions.
• Assist the instructor in lab/activity sessions, and/or perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair in consultation with the appropriate faculty member.

• Perform individual and/or group academic support
