Job summary

You will work with EIC project leadership and other divisions, shaping strategic priorities, managing a budget over $100M, and ensuring collaboration with U.S. DOE and partner institutions. This on-site position is based in Upton, NY.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in nuclear or particle physics.
• 12+ years in nuclear/particle physics research and operations, with 8+ years in leadership.
• Proven ability to lead large, mission-driven scientific organizations with strategy, workforce, and budget oversight.
• Ability to engage senior leadership, sponsors, advisory/review committees, partners and external stakeholders.
• Internationally recognized accomplishments in nuclear/particle physics and experience managing large-scale initiatives.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Commitment to safety, ethics, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific, technical, operational, and strategic leadership for the Division.
• Establish priorities, governance, and management systems to enable safe operations.
• Develop a strategic, long-term vision for the Division.
• Develop and manage annual operating and project budgets exceeding $100M.
• Ensure collaboration with EIC leadership, other divisions, and external partners.
• Represent the Division and Laboratory to DOE officials, sponsors, and stakeholders.
• Contribute to Directorate priorities and long-term planning.
• Maintain a strong, diverse technical workforce and an inclusive work environment.
