Job summary

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in nuclear or particle physics or closely related field.
• Minimum twelve years of progressively responsible experience in nuclear or particle physics research and operation programs, including at least eight years of leadership and management within a DOE laboratory or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to engage senior leadership, DOE sponsors, advisory/review committees, partner institutions, and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall scientific, technical, operational, and strategic leadership for the Physics Division and ensure alignment with Laboratory and DOE missions.
• Establish and monitor priorities, governance, organizational structure, and management systems for safe operations and effective execution.
• Develop and communicate a strategic long-term vision for the Division advancing scientific and operational excellence.
• Develop, manage, forecast and execute annual operating and project budgets exceeding $100M.
• Ensure effective collaboration with EIC Project leadership and other divisions to deliver division scope and objectives.
• Represent the Division and Laboratory in interactions with DOE officials, sponsors, and external stakeholders.
• Serve as a member of the FIP Directorate leadership team and contribute to priorities and planning.
• Maintain and develop a strong scientific workforce and promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative environment.
