Role Overview

The Medical Physicist is responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic ionizing radiation in collaboration with radiation oncologists and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Perform all medical physics tasks, maintain regulatory compliance, develop and review treatment protocols, and oversee quality assurance of equipment such as accelerators and brachytherapy devices. Conduct clinical QA, monitor radiation safety, and manage documentation and inventory of radioactive materials. Assist in treatment planning, support brachytherapy procedures, and lead physics projects. Act as Radiation Safety Officer and participate in departmental safety and strategic planning meetings.

Qualifications & Skills

Certifications include ABR Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiology Physics and Illinois licensing. Requires a Master’s Degree in Physics or related field, with relevant work experience. Knowledge of radiation therapy techniques, regulatory standards, equipment calibration, and safety protocols. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to develop policies, perform technical supervision, and engage in continuous professional growth.
