Job summary

Baptist is seeking a Medical Physicist to provide a range of services for imaging and therapy equipment, develop standardization methods, and assist with treatment planning for special cases. Role includes acceptance testing, QA, and consultant support to physicians per orders.

The position emphasizes collaboration with staff to ensure accuracy and safety in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • ABR certification in Radiation Oncology is required or strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' progressive cancer center/facility experience in Radiation Oncology.
  • Masters degree and board eligibility in medical physics (ABR) are required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate treatment planning processes and related procedures.
  • Document all aspects of physics services.
  • Participate in performance improvement and radiation safety activities.
  • Contribute to a positive department environment and team effort.
  • Complete assigned goals as part of daily duties.

Job description

Performs a variety of medical physics services to include developing techniques used to standardize and calibrate imaging and therapy equipment; performs treatment planning for special cases and acts as a resource to other staff regarding treatment plans, simulations, and special device fabrication; validates the accuracy of the treatment plan and provides consultation to physicians per orders; performs acceptance testing, measurements, commissioning and ongoing quality assurance testing of linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and physics equipment to establish accuracy and safety in accordance with hospital, state, federal, and accrediting body requirements.
