Job summary

Children’s Wisconsin is seeking a pediatrician to join the acute care team at the Appleton urgent care clinic beginning Fall 2025. The physician will provide timely pediatric care for newborns to adolescents seven days a week, in collaboration with specialists, while maintaining high standards of safety and documentation.

The role requires Wisconsin medical licensure, ABP certification or eligibility, DEA, and BLS, plus strong communication skills and a commitment to teaching.

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice medicine in Wisconsin.
• Current malpractice insurance at $400,000/$1,000,000 and participation in Patient Compensation Fund.
• Current DEA number.
• Must be ABP eligible or ABP certified.
• Current CPR certification - BLS for Healthcare Providers.
• CHW medical staff membership in Department of Medicine with core privileges in pediatrics.
• Demonstrated proficiency in skills to manage urgent care patients.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with physicians, nurses, patients, families and staff.
• Physically and mentally able to perform all patient care duties.
• Good medical record documentation skills.
• Teaching interest for students and professionals.
• Able to lift/carry 20 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally, and push/pull up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide acute pediatric care in the Appleton urgent care clinic.
• Maintain OSHA standards and ensure clinic compliance.
• Demonstrate teaching to students and professionals (nurses, NP students, residents).

Through Connected for Kids, a pediatric joint venture between Children’s Wisconsin, Bellin Health and ThedaCare, work is underway to improve the health and well-being of children and adolescents in Northeast and Central Wisconsin. This partnership is making a meaningful impact on care for area kids through numerous initiatives, such as increasing access to care closer to home and collaborating on pediatric best practices, including for delivery of urgent care services. We will open a pediatric urgent care in our Appleton Clinic in Fall2025. Urgent care services for kids of all ages, from newborns to adolescents, will be available seven days a week at the clinic, providing a timely and convenient new option for families. We currently seek a pediatrician to work as an acute care provider in the Children’s Wisconsin Appleton urgent care clinic. The pediatrician provides appropriate acute pediatric care services. Additionally, the pediatrician maintains and complies with all OSHA standards to achieve clinic compliance.

Minimum Requirements

• Current licensure to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin.
• Current malpractice insurance at a level of $400,000/$1,000,000 as well as participation in the Patient Compensation Fund.
• Current DEA number.
• Must be ABP (American Board of Pediatrics) eligible or ABP certified.
• Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.
• CHW medical staff membership in the Department of Medicine with core privileges in pediatrics or CHW pediatric PL3.
• Demonstrated proficiency in skills necessary to manage urgent care patients normally acquired during pediatric residency training.
• ' Must demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with fellow physicians, nurses, patients, families and other staff.
• Physically and mentally able to perform all patient care duties.
• Good medical record documentation skills as demonstrated by concise and pertinent entries.
• Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching, which will include student level and professionals (nurses, pediatric nurse practitioners, interns/residents).
• Able to lift/carry 20 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Able to occasionally reach overhead and frequently squat/bend/kneel and regularly stand, walk and move about.

Certifications/Licenses
