West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery seeks a General Thoracic Surgeon to practice in Butler, PA, with potential assignments at additional sites in WV, MD, and PA. Travel may be required to fulfill duties across sites.

The successful candidate will join a renowned team in the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute, with emphasis on minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery, teaching, and patient care excellence.

Qualifications

Additional Job Description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery seek a General Thoracic Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Butler, PA.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties

The successful candidate joins a group of internationally renowned academic thoracic surgeons who are part of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Candidates with competency in minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery should apply. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign educational equivalent), and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed general surgery residency program, as well as cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program. Successful candidate must have board-certified or board-eligible in thoracic surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
