Job summary

West Virginia University Health System seeks a General Thoracic Surgeon to join the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. The successful candidate will teach students and trainees, provide specialized thoracic surgery with minimally invasive techniques, and participate in clinical duties.

The role may require service at additional sites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania; travel is anticipated.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree and eligibility for state medical license.
• Completion of general surgery residency and cardiothoracic fellowship.
• Board certification/eligibility in thoracic surgery by appointment time.

Responsibilities

• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Provide thoracic surgical care with a focus on minimally invasive approaches.
• Travel to additional sites in WVU health system as required by operational needs.

Additional Job Description:

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery seek a General Thoracic Surgeon (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Butler, PA.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties:

The successful candidate joins a group of internationally renowned academic thoracic surgeons who are part of the WVU Heart and Vascular Institute and Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center. Candidates with competency in minimally invasive lung and esophageal surgery should apply. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign educational equivalent), and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed general surgery residency program, as well as cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program. Successful candidate must be board-certified or board-eligible in thoracic surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
