Job summary

University of Miami is seeking a Physician Support Informaticist 3 to deliver one-on-one Epic UChart training and resolve end-user issues across ambulatory care settings in Miami, FL. The ideal candidate holds Epic certification, a relevant degree, and 5+ years of experience in clinical operations or IT.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field with ongoing clinical informatics focus.
  • Epic Certification in at least one core module is required for this role.
  • Informatics or Lean certification is preferred to support process improvements.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in clinical operations, IT, or healthcare vendors.
  • Experience leading at least one full module or system implementation, preferably Epic.
  • Vendor/consulting experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one training on Epic UChart applications across service lines.
  • Identify and document provider and physician workflow issues and routes to UHIT teams.
  • Travel to UMHC satellite locations to support go-lives and deployments.
  • Advocate for clinician needs and document opportunities for optimization.
  • Analyze new releases and assess impact on provider workflows.
  • Facilitate end-user sessions to prioritize changes and improvements.
  • Collaborate with trainers to develop documentation and training strategies.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and regular project meetings.
  • Maintain communication with leadership on project status and issues.

Current Employees:

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Information Technology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Physician Support Informaticist 3 to work in Miami, FL.

The Physician Support Informaticist 3 - Central provides one-on-one post classroom provider/physician training on Epic UChart applications/modules across all service lines, addresses end user problems and challenges with the clinical information systems (e.g., software, hardware, or network difficulties). The Physician Support Informaticist 3 - Central initiates the documentation and routing of issues to the correct UHIT team and communicates the resolution to relevant stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Initiates periodic rounding toidentifyprovider and physician issues throughout the ambulatory care and clinic settings.
  • Partners with Informatics and IT leadership with developing and implementing an issue resolution plan (e.g., open, track, and resolve IT tickets withUChartanalysts).
  • Travelsto each University of Miami Health System (UMHC) satellite location and provide support during go-lives.
  • Acts as an advocate for provider and physician needs byidentifyingand documenting system optimization opportunities and following through on those improvements to implementation.
  • Initiates the analysis of new releases anddetermininghow they willimpactprovider and physician workflow.
  • Participates orfacilitatessessions with end users to prioritize and confirm changes that will be implemented.
  • Collaborates with trainers on system changes and new features to develop documentation and training strategies.
  • Participates in on-call rotations and support.
  • Maintains regular communication with team members, including participating in weekly project team meetings.
  • Reviews the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
  • This position provides full-time onsite support at the Bascom Palmer Eye InstituteUHealthLocations: Plantation and Palm Beach Gardens.
  • Optimize / streamline workflows for Future State: process driven technology and work to reduce system and process variability by harmonizing workflows
  • Informaticist role on implementations and upgrades: focusing on workflow design, validation testing / user acceptance testing, end user readiness (change management, training, policy, roles) and end user adoption
  • When encountering established systems this role will review (document where needed) current state workflows and workstreams, identify opportunities to streamline and harmonize system-wide workflowsacting as an advocate for physician’s needs.

Core Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree inrelevantfield.
  • Epic Certification in at least one core modulerequired.
  • Informatics Certificate, Lean Certification, additional Epic Certification in an Ambulatory specialty applicationpreferred.
  • Minimum5yearsofrelevantexperience. Minimum of 6 years of experience, in clinical operations, Hospital IT or Healthcare vendorpreferred.
  • Experience participating as a team lead on at least (1) implementation of a module or system, preferably Epic.
  • Vendor / Consulting Experiencepreferred.
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Proficiency in metrics/ outcomes development: baseline capture, documentation of proposed metrics; methods to capture / measure and monitor.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Problem Solving: Seeking, logically examining, and interpreting information from different sources to determine a problem’s cause and developing a course of action to resolve the problem and to prevent its recurrence.
