Real Radiology, a physician-owned teleradiology company in Omaha, NE, seeks a Physician Privileging Specialist to manage physician credentialing and hospital privileging processes. The role reports to the Physician Services Manager and is full-time in-office during business hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma; 1+ years in a medical office environment or equivalent preferred.
  • Physician credentialing, licensing or privileging experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of credentialing processes and HIPAA regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process initial privileging and payor enrollment applications for new physicians.
  • Gather and verify required documentation (education, work history, licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, references).
  • Assist physicians in obtaining hospital privileges and provider enrollments.
  • Maintain clear communication with physicians and internal departments regarding credentialing status.
  • Identify issues or delays in the credentialing process and escalate as needed.
  • Manage application requirements for all physicians and monitor reappointments for compliance.
  • Update physician records, databases, and documentation of activities.
  • Serve as liaison between physicians, hospitals, and credentialing bodies to obtain verifications.
  • Provide updates to relevant departments on credentialing status.
  • Use phone, email, fax, and mail to support inquiries and process flow.
  • Identify opportunities to improve privileging and payor processes.

The Role

The Physician Privileging Specialist (PPS) is responsible for completing the privileging processes for physician radiologists of Real Radiology. The PPS ensures that facility medical privileges are submitted appropriately and checks the status of privilege applications for assigned facilities. The PPS will report directly to the Physician Services Manager.This position is full time and in the office during regular business hours.

Job Functions
  • Process initial privileging and payor enrollment applications for new physicians
  • Gather and verify required documentation, such as education, work history, licenses, certifications, malpractice insurance, and references
  • Assist physicians in obtaining hospital privileges, and provider enrollments
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with physicians and internal departments regarding the status of privileges and payor enrollment
  • Identify and escalation issues or delays in the credentialing process
  • Manage and process application requirements for all physicians
  • Track and monitor physician reappointment dates to ensure compliance
  • Maintain and update physician records, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all activities
  • Act as a liaison between physicians, hospitals, and other credentialing bodies to obtain verifications and resolve issues
  • Provide timely updates to relevant internal departments regarding physician credentialing status
  • Utilize multiple communication methods, including phone, email, fax, and mail
  • Support physician inquiries related to privileging and payor status
  • Identify opportunities for improving privileging and payor processes and recommend best practices
  • Remain current on industry regulations, requirements, and compliance standards
  • Support the Physician Services department with projects and assigned tasks
