Overview

Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the United States Army's premier medical institution located on Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. The center includes ten separate organizations, such as community medical clinics and an outpatient rehabilitation facility. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act. This is a Direct Hire solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized, salary negotiation may be available for new federal service candidates, student loan repayment may be authorized, and remote telework may be authorized.

Responsibilities

As a Physician Radiologist you will:

  • Interpret the full range of general diagnostic imaging modality exams to include MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography, and nuclear scintigraphy.
  • Evaluate imaging test results for the purposes of diagnosis, patient care, research, and education.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including diagnostic imaging staff, x‑ray technicians, laboratory staff, and referring clinical providers.
  • Consult with the requesting clinical provider before a procedure to decide on the procedure and minimize patient invasion.
  • Direct supporting employees during scheduled or emergency care procedures such as biopsies and abscess drainages.
  • Assist with formulation of plans and procedures for assigned services; coordinate radiological services with other medical activities.
  • Participate in independent remote/off‑site teleradiology call schedules overnights and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Basic Requirement For Physician (Radiology)
  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian school accredited by a recognized body. A U.S. medical degree from a foreign school must demonstrate equivalency to U.S. accredited schools.
  • Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted Physician license or registration from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting following completion of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.
Requirements

In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must also meet the following:

  • Successfully completed accredited residency training in Radiology or equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years.

If selected for a Physician position, a salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. Salary determination will begin after the offer is accepted, with base pay and market pay added to establish the starting salary. Physician salaries are based on a tier scale determined by specialty, grade, and location.
