Summary
Tennessee Valley HCS-Medical Imaging is seeking a skilled Physician - Diagnostic Radiologist to join our team. Diagnostic Radiologists are physicians assigned to Radiology, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine Service, responsible for providing diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, and nuclear medicine care to patients. This position involves an appointment in the Medical Imaging Service of the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System at the Nashville campus.

Duties

  • Interpretation of mammography (screening & diagnostic), nuclear medicine, PET, plain films, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT, and MRI.
  • Provide general diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine services to VA TVHS patients.
  • Perform and interpret studies utilizing PACS and voice recognition systems.
  • Meet productivity benchmarks; responsible for interpretation and report generation for credentialed studies.
  • Dictate and sign clinical notes in a timely manner.
  • Communicate critical findings directly with ordering providers.
  • Participate in peer review activities and attend clinical conferences as assigned.
  • May be assigned night call and weekend backup duties.
  • Teach, supervise, and evaluate radiology residents and medical students from affiliated medical schools.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible.
  • All applicants subject to drug screening; refusal results in disqualification.
  • Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Background/security investigation required.
  • Complete online onboarding; acceptable ID required.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical.
  • Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination required.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet basic and any additional listed requirements. Pending training or license completion is acceptable temporarily. Current VA employees meeting previous standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • MD or equivalent from an approved school
  • Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine
  • Residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
  • Proficiency in English

Preferred Experience: Training in Nuclear Medicine with ABR and ABNM certifications, interpreting mammography, nuclear medicine, PET/CT, and general radiology examinations.
