  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, make treatment decisions.

Job description

Summary

This position involves a Psychiatrist working within the Recovery Services (outpatient substance use disorder treatment program) to deliver evidence-based care for Veterans diagnosed with opioid use disorder treated with Buprenorphine, as well as those with psychiatric needs involved in Recovery Services. The ideal candidate will be double board certified (General psychiatry and Addiction psychiatry) or board eligible.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered tentatively. VA physicians previously appointed under the old standards are deemed qualified.

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available
  • Medical degree from an approved school
  • Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Completed residency training approved by VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
  • Proficiency in English
  • Preferred: Double board certification in General Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry or eligibility
  • Physical requirements include visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and physical stamina
Responsibilities
  • Perform substance use disorder and psychiatric evaluations
  • Induct Veterans onto Suboxone and provide ongoing treatment for Opioid Use Disorder with Medication Assisted Treatment
  • Ensure practice compliance with applicable policies, guidelines, and regulations
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, make treatment decisions
  • May participate in supervision, teaching, on-call duties, and other related activities
  • Maintain availability for consultations
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
