Job summary

Gordon Crofoot MD, PA is seeking a physician to provide comprehensive medical management for HIV-infected and uninfected adults in a well-established Houston practice. The role emphasizes participation in research portfolios related to gender-affirming health care and infectious diseases.

The physician will diagnose, treat, and manage HIV in ambulatory settings, coordinate referrals, supervise mid-level providers, and support clinical research activities. On-call duties are included.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine is required or eligible.
• Texas Medical License or eligibility is required.
• Interest in externally and internally funded research and gender-affirming health care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat HIV-infected and uninfected adult patients in ambulatory care settings.
• Refer patients to medical or surgical specialists as needed.
• Order referrals to nutrition, case management, adherence counseling, and other services.
• Administer or order appropriate tests and review labs daily.
• Assist with urgent and walk-in visit dispositions.
• Supervise mid-level providers and participate in patient callbacks.
• Work with Research staff to recruit candidates for clinical research activities.
• Participate in on-call schedule by phone, averaging one week every five weeks.

Join a well-established multi-specialty group. This is a unique clinical opportunity to provide comprehensive medical management for members of the Houston LGBTQ+ community. Successful applicants will have an interest in externally and internally funded research. A physician with interest in developing their research portfolios in gender-affirming health care, infectious diseases, and sexually transmitted infection studies is preferred as they will synergize with our outstanding resources, strengths, and current funding.

The physician will also participate in patient care:

• Diagnose and treat HIV infected and uninfected adult patients in ambulatory care settings


• Refer patients to medical or surgical specialists as needed


• Order referrals to nutrition, case management, adherence counseling, and other services


• Administer or order appropriate tests


• Daily review of lab results and requested medication refills


• Assist with the disposition of urgent and walk-in visits


• Participate in coverage for other medical providers when needed


• Take and enter detailed clinical notes


• Provide supervision for mid-level providers


• Conduct patient callbacks either directly, through an assistant, or through the EMR Patient Portal


• Work closely with Research staff to recruit appropriate candidates for clinical research activities


• Participate in meetings and administrative assignments


• Participate in on-call schedule by phone only, averaging one week for every five weeks


• Provide comprehensive medical management of HIV patient, including HIV specific health-related quality of life, primary care, and preventative medical management

Competitive Base salary (Commensurate with experience)

Applicants must be board certified in either adult Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine and possess or be eligible for a Texas Medical License. Not a J-1 opportunity.
