Job Title

Job Summary

Provide healthcare services to patients and perform a variety of duties in the assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients in the ambulatory clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary medical care to patients presenting to the Student Health Clinic for acute/urgent symptoms and routine medical care through effective history taking, physical assessment, and determination of appropriate differential diagnoses based on clinical guidelines.
  • Provide telehealth services via an approved platform to the patient population of Student Health Services.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests and procedures based on patient findings to develop a differential diagnosis and applicable treatment plan and disposition consistent with clinical care best practice guidelines.
  • Participate in e‑prescribing.
  • Provide patients with health education and prevention information based on age‑specific guidelines, medications, mistreatments, anticipated outcomes, and referrals.
  • Participate in departmental activities such as working on policies and procedures, developing nursing standing orders, risk management and quality improvement activities, compliance with accreditation standards, and departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director and Director of Student Health Services or the University.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university’s school of medicine/osteopathic medicine and completion of an internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, or emergency medicine residency program.
  • Active and unrestricted physician license in the state of Georgia.
  • Board eligible or board certified in the relevant medical discipline.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS certification or obtain within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting, preferably with a college‑age population.
  • Experience in providing gender‑based healthcare and patient health education.
  • Experience working in a team of health care providers and managing low‑acuity mental health diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Experience using electronic health records, PDMP, and e‑prescribing.
  • Experience managing bloodborne pathogen exposures and prophylaxis management.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Awareness of infection prevention policies and ability to follow established best practice guidelines for quality and safety in a healthcare organization.

Skills
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail‑oriented with ability to complete delegated tasks on time and ensure accuracy of documentation and written communication.
Excellent customer service attitude.
Proficient in technology skills with multiple platforms, such as Microsoft, Adobe, and EHR platforms.

Abilities
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of providers, clinical staff, and administrative staff to serve a varying student population.

Certifications / Licenses

Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification.

Shift / Salary / Benefits

Part‑time non‑benefits eligible position (.40 FTE or 16.0 hours per week). Days; M‑F.

Salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum‑midpoint).

Benefits may be elected for full‑time employees only. Some benefits include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan), earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays.

Conditions of Employment

Successful completion of a background check review prior to starting. If applicable, a credit check for positions of trust or approved departmental purchase card usage. Motor vehicle reports for positions requiring the use of an Augusta University vehicle.
