Emergency Medicine Physician (SMG) Southern Acute Resources Group (ARG)

WVU Medicine, West Virginia University Health System Medical Group (WVUHS Medical Group), is actively recruiting Emergency Medicine Physicians to join our Acute Resource Group (ARG). The ARG is an internal group of mobile physicians supporting our system Emergency Departments throughout West Virginia and Pennsylvania, with potential expansion to additional states. These physicians cover acute needs in our Emergency Departments, ensuring high-quality care. All facilities currently use Epic Electronic Medical System or will adopt it within the next 12 months.

Responsibilities:
  • Practice in Emergency Medicine across various WVU Health System Emergency Departments, including Bluefield, Braxton, Princeton, Summersville, and Thomas Hospitals.
Qualifications:
  • M.D. or D.O. degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Board Certified/Eligible, residency trained in Emergency Medicine preferred. Will consider physicians trained and board certified/eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with experience.
  • Must be eligible for and maintain a valid state license.

The Department of Emergency Medicine has over 200 full-time members across diverse practice sites, offering various clinical experiences anchored by an academic affiliation with WVU's School of Medicine.

The WVU Health System has expanded significantly in specialty and sub-specialty care, including cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience. It operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center and opened a new 150-bed Children's Hospital in September 2022.

Bluefield Regional Medical Center

Provides access to healthcare, education, and recreational activities in Bluefield, WV. Offers affordable housing options and a low crime rate, making it ideal for families and individuals.

Braxton County Memorial Hospital

A non-profit, critical access hospital serving Braxton County and nearby areas, offering 24-hour emergency care, inpatient and outpatient services, and outpatient primary care and women's health services. Located in Gassaway, WV, near outdoor recreational sites.

Princeton Community Hospital

Located in Mercer County, WV, offering a safe and culturally rich environment with a focus on community development and family living.

Summersville Regional Medical Center

Provides comprehensive acute, emergency, outpatient, and long-term care, including pediatric outreach clinics. Located near outdoor recreation areas like Summersville Lake and the Greenbrier Resort.

Thomas Memorial Hospital

Situated in Charleston, WV, at the confluence of the Kanawha and Elk rivers, with excellent accessibility and a vibrant city life, arts, and recreation scene.
