PrimeCare Medical, Inc. is seeking a Part Time Physician / Medical Director to provide on-site medical services at Anne Arundel County facilities, including St. Mary's County Detention Center in Leonardtown, MD and Charles County Detention Center in La Plata, MD.

Weekly schedule is 6 to 8 hours per week with an hourly rate of $150–$170 per hour. Company-paid liability insurance (including tail coverage) and CME technology support are provided.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine.
• Licensed to practice Medicine in Maryland.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible.
• Maintain current DEA license.
• Maintain active BLS (CPR) certification.
• Maintain current Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site medical services to inmate/patient population.
• Manage clinical health program per NCCHC/ACA standards and PCM policies.
• Schedule duties with facility administration and PCM.
• Provide medical treatment to confined inmates/patients as applicable.
• Provide medical consultations to physicians, mid-level providers, and nursing staff.
• Supervise medical staff during duty and ensure timely medical entries.
• Coordinate emergency medical coverage via phone and in person.
• Collaborate with pharmacy on formulary medications.

PrimeCare Medical, Inc. (PCM) has been in operation since 1986. We are a private, physician-founded, nationally accredited correctional health care practice.

PCM provides comprehensive medical & mental health care services to over 80 county jails, prisons, and juvenile detention centers throughout the states of PA, MD, NY, FL, NH & OH.

Correctional health care is a unique, challenging, and exciting opportunity for today’s medical professional in that it provides the ability to truly utilize all of your learned medical skills and knowledge on a daily basis. It is the perfect hybrid of Primary Care, Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, and Addiction Medicine; providing care to an under-served, diverse, and appreciative patient population.

We are looking for a Part Time Physician / Medical Director to provider on-site service in the medical department at Anne Arundel County Facilties. St. Mary's Counthy Detention Center in Leonardtown, MD and Charles County Detention Center in La Plata, MD.

Weekly schedule is 6 to 8 hours per week. Normal business hours split half days between the two locations.

Some important key points

• Hourly rate range is offered for each shift with shift differential. Varies for weekends shifts also. $150-$170 per hour


• Company-paid liability insurance (including tail coverage) provided.


• Although part-time and per diem employees are not eligible to accrue paid time off (PTO) under PrimeCare’s company policy, you are eligible to accrue “sick and safe” leave benefits under Maryland’s Healthy Working Families Act (i.e., MDSSL). MDSSL accrues at a rate of one (1) hour for every thirty (30) hours of straight time worked, for a maximum annual accrual of sixty-four (64) hours.

Job Description

• Provide service to the inmate/patient population while utilizing current, acceptable standards of medical practice.


• Assume responsibility for clinical management of the medical health program in accordance with NCCHC/ACA Standards, as well as PCM policies and procedures.


• Services to be provided on scheduled workdays according to standards and times mutually agreeable to physician, facility administration, and PCM.


• Provide medical treatment to confined inmates/patients, when applicable.


• Provide medical consultation to all professionals (i.e., physicians/mid-level providers/nursing) within the unit.


• Oversee and supervise all medical clinical services provided.


• Ensure complete, accurate and timely medical entries are made for each inmate/patient contact.


• Available for consultation and/or emergency medical coverage via phone call.


• Work collaboratively and supervise clinical activities of fellow physicians and medical staff while on duty.


• Evaluate all inmates/patients referred with medical health concerns for presence, or absence, of mental illness and refer to mental health accordingly.


• Refer inmates/patients as necessary to appropriate medical facilities when appropriate.


• Work collaboratively with pharmacy to evaluate and approve all medications and other medicinal preparations, which comprise the facility formulary.


• Establish and monitor standards of care provided by physicians, psychologist and nurses in accordance with NCCHC/ACA and accepted medical standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine, specialty training preferred in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Correctional Medicine, and/or Urgent Care.


• Licensed to practice Medicine in Maryland.


• Board Certified or Board Eligible.


• Maintain current DEA


• Maintain active BLS (i.e. CPR) certification.


• Maintain current Driver’s License
