Job summary

SportsMed Physical Therapy is seeking an experienced Physician Liaison / Medical Sales Representative to develop and grow physician referral relationships across an assigned territory in Northern New Jersey.

This outside sales role requires proven physician-facing selling experience, an existing network, and the ability to travel and build long-term referral partnerships with orthopedic, PCP, pain management, neurology, and sports medicine physicians.

Qualifications

Outside sales, physician relations or healthcare/medical sales experience.
Established network of physician relationships or book of business preferred.
Experience calling on physicians or healthcare providers in a field-based sales role.

SportsMed Physical Therapy is a rapidly growing physical therapy organization with locations throughout Northern New Jersey. As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced Physician Liaison / Medical Sales Representative to develop and grow physician referral relationships throughout an assigned territory.

This is an outside sales and business development position for a relationship-driven professional who understands the healthcare referral landscape and knows how to build meaningful relationships with physicians and their practices.

This Is a Relationship-Driven Sales Role

The ideal candidate already has experience calling on healthcare providers and understands how physician referral relationships are developed and maintained.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have an established network of physician relationships and/or an existing book of business within the medical community.

Experience working with physicians such as:

Orthopedic Surgeons
Primary Care Physicians
Pain Management Physicians
Neurologists
Sports Medicine Physicians
Podiatrists
Physiatrists
Other physicians and healthcare providers who commonly refer patients for physical therapy

What You'll Do

Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with physicians, medical practices, and other patient referral sources
Regularly travel throughout your assigned territory to visit physician offices and healthcare practices
Build awareness of SportsMed Physical Therapy and communicate the value of our clinical services
Identify new referral opportunities and develop relationships with practices that can become long-term referral partners
Maintain consistent contact with existing referral sources to strengthen relationships and grow patient volume
Leverage your existing physician network and professional relationships to generate new business opportunities
Develop and execute a territory-specific business development strategy
Track referral activity, identify opportunities for growth, and take ownership of territory performance
Collaborate with SportsMed's clinical and operations teams to ensure a strong experience for referring providers and their patients
Represent SportsMed at physician events, networking opportunities, community events, and other external activities
Work collaboratively with the Physician Liaison and Marketing teams to develop new strategies for growing referral relationships
Provide regular updates on territory activity, relationships, opportunities, and results

What We're Looking For

Proven experience in outside sales, physician relations, healthcare sales, or medical sales
Established relationships with physicians and medical practices
Existing book of business or demonstrated network within the healthcare community strongly preferred
Experience calling on physicians or healthcare providers in a field-based sales role
Knowledge of the healthcare referral process and physician practice environment
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
Confident, outgoing personality with the ability to build rapport quickly
Highly self-motivated and comfortable working independently in the field
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Organized, driven, and results-oriented
Ability to manage a territory and prioritize opportunities effectively
Bachelor's degree preferred
Bilingual Spanish is a plus
