The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a hospitalist to provide high-quality inpatient clinical care. Responsibilities include leading interdisciplinary teams, ensuring efficient patient management, and maintaining communication with diverse healthcare stakeholders. Ideal candidates will possess a medical degree and relevant residency experience, and proficiency in English is essential for effective care delivery.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Duties
The hospitalist provides inpatient clinical care to patients referred to hospitalist services, working closely with the nurse director and hospital departments to ensure high-quality, effective patient care, timely discharges, and excellent communication with PCPs, patients, families, specialists, hospital departments, and administration. The hospitalist leads the interdisciplinary team to improve efficiency and facilitate continuum of care from admission through discharge. This includes general adult medicine, internal medicine consults, critical care management, and management of patients with comorbidities.

Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, applicants may be tentatively selected but not hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
Preferred Experience: ABIM-Certified physicians are preferred.

Physical Requirements: Pre-placement and periodic physical exams are required to ensure suitability for the position, as per VA Directive and Handbook 5019.
