Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval includes an award amount up to $200,000 and an eligibility period of one to five years, determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
- Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency programs must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee.
- Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and only appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Additional Requirements: Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine with several years of experience; supervisory experience preferred; desire to teach HPC fellows.
- Physical Requirements: Must meet physical standards, including the ability to lift 15-44 pounds, reach above shoulder, and perform other physical activities as detailed.
Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until July 15, 2025, with initial application cutoff on May 29, 2025, and subsequent bi-weekly cutoffs.
