Physician - Hospice and Palliative Care Director (Martinez)

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment initiative. Eligibility requirements apply, and applications must be submitted within four months of appointment. The program offers awards up to $200,000 and a period of one to five years, as determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible.

Duties

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT, remaining open until July 15, 2025. Initial applications will be reviewed starting May 29, 2025, with subsequent bi-weekly cut-offs. Applications received after these dates will be considered as vacancies arise. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.

Position Overview

The HPC Medical Director reports to the ACOS for Geriatrics & Extended Care and oversees clinical and administrative operations within the Northern California Healthcare System, serving veteran patients across multiple facilities. Responsibilities include policy development, quality monitoring, staff supervision, interdisciplinary collaboration, and educational roles.

Qualifications

Must possess:

  • US citizenship
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Full, unrestricted medical license
  • Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine with experience

Additional requirements include proficiency in English, physical fitness, and compliance with VA employment standards.
