Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Advanced Gastroenterologist to join our team as an Adult GI-Hospitalist at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The role involves inpatient consults, performing endoscopy, and providing comprehensive GI care.

The ideal candidate will have MD/DO credentials, board certification or fellowship in GI, and fellowship completion with potential waivers. Advanced ERCP training is required; EUS is preferred but not mandatory.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certification in Gastroenterology (ABMS/AOA/RCPSC) or completion of GI fellowship.
  • Successful completion of Internal Medicine residency and fellowship in Gastroenterology, or equivalent waiver possibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient consults as a GI-Hospitalist.
  • Perform gastroenterology procedures, including endoscopy.
  • Provide nonsurgical care for GI disorders in adolescents and adults.

Marshfield Medical Center is in search of a BC/BE Advanced Gastroenterologist to join our established team as an Adult GI-Hospitalist in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The incoming physician would join a well‑established GI service line supported by Advanced Practitioner Clinicians and numerous other resources at a state‑of‑the‑art facility! This is a broad‑based position that includes inpatient consults. Advanced ERCP training is required. EUS experience and skills are highly preferred, but not required.

- Features a 7 day on/7 day off schedule rotation with options for schedule flexibility within the annual work week requirement
- 26 annual work weeks
- 12 hours onsite work then 12 hours of call from home
- Inpatient Advanced Practice Provider coverage seven days a week
- Shift weeks are Monday - Sunday
- This role will also include performing 3-4 outpatient scopes daily when on schedule in a dedicated Endoscopy Suite
- Coverage of only one Trauma Level II facility, 500-bed Hospital

Job Description

Gastroenterology Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examinations, admit (if applicable to the setting), provide consultative services, evaluate, diagnose, and provide nonsurgical care to adolescent and adult patients presenting with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of the stomach, intestines, and related structure, such as the esophagus, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas including biopsies.

Qualifications

M.D. or D.O. degree. Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested: An applicant who has just completed a fellowship shall provide his/her fellowship log. OR An applicant who is not applying directly out of a fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the last 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in 50 gastroenterology cases in the last 12 months. OR If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical activity for the last 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement in 50 gastroenterology cases in the last 12 months. More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes. Successful completion Internal Medicine residency program, and completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada in the residency. Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy. Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/ subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application but who have completed their fellowship training within the last five years shall be eligible, however must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of their fellowship training unless the appropriate governing Board waives such requirement. (Refer to each entity’s policy for grandfather exceptions) Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
