The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a qualified physician for the York County VA Clinic. This role involves providing care to Veterans, with additional responsibilities at the Cumberland County VA Clinic. Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree, possess a current medical license, and complete residency training. Board certification in Gastroenterology is preferred.
This position is located at the York County VA Clinic in York, PA, with a travel requirement to the Cumberland County VA Clinic in Mechanicsburg, PA, as needed to provide care to Veterans.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

EDRP Authorized: Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possibly 5 days for CME).
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions.
Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance options, many of which can be carried into retirement.
Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (full-time employment and board certification required).

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting.
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending trainees or license requirements must be completed before hiring. Current VA physicians who met previous standards are deemed qualified.
Basic Requirements:
Residents enrolled in accredited programs may be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and can only perform certain duties under supervision.
Additional Requirement: Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements: Includes frequent reaching, standing, walking, lifting, and patient handling. The position is typically non-sedentary, requiring movement about the facility, assisting with patient ambulation, and handling equipment and supplies.
