Summary
This position is located at various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office. The primary purpose is to serve as a technical expert in Family Practice, providing diagnosis, care, and treatment for patients of all ages.

Duties

• Provide medical practice or direct patient services, including diagnostic, preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
• Prescribe or administer treatments, medications, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat and prevent illnesses or injuries.
• Order, perform, interpret tests, and analyze records to diagnose patient conditions.
• Monitor patient progress and re-evaluate treatments. Explain procedures and discuss test results with patients.
• Coordinate with healthcare professionals such as nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to deliver health services.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment include probationary period, U.S. citizenship, selective service registration (for males born after 12/31/1959), background checks, immunizations, on-call hours, and direct deposit setup. The position also requires passing E-Verify and a background investigation.

Qualifications

Applicants must have relevant experience and/or education, including volunteer work. Specific educational and licensure requirements are detailed, including a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited school, valid medical license, and appropriate postgraduate training.

For GS-13, three years of graduate training or equivalent experience in Family Medicine is required. Active board certification or active pursuit thereof is also necessary.
