Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a qualified Medical Coder to edit and review charges and medical documentation to determine correct codes and modifiers for services rendered in office and hospital settings.

You will verify data entry, enter demographics and insurance information, and attach authorizations in the EMR while serving as a coding resource for the team. Previous physician-based coding experience and CPC certification are required or equivalent credentials.

Qualifications

• CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers for outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures.
• NCCI, MU, MUE edits and bundling guidelines.
• Microsoft software proficiency.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate PC and web/tele-conference equipment.
• Knowledge of E&M and surgical coding.
• Ability to explain documentation needs to physicians and staff via EMR.

Responsibilities

• Edit and review charges and medical documentation to determine appropriate codes and modifiers for services rendered in office and hospital settings.
• Review outpatient and inpatient procedure reports and enter charges into electronic medical records.
• Communicate documentation discrepancies with coding staff and supervisor.
• Create patient charts and enter demographics and insurance information into EMR.
• Verify data entry of patient demographics, insurance, and hospital charges for accuracy.
• Enter and attach insurance and authorizations to patient encounters in EMR.
• Serve as a coding resource and assist with coding questions for the team.
• Maintain open communication with the coding team and supervisor.
