Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a skilled medical coder to edit and review charges and medical documentation to determine codes and modifiers for services rendered in office and hospital settings. You will review outpatient and inpatient reports, abstract procedures, enter charges into the EMR, verify data accuracy for demographics and insurance, and support the coding supervisor with complex questions.

CPC/CCS certifications and 2+ years of physician-based coding experience are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of physician-based coding experience (E/M and surgical).
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS and modifiers.
• Knowledge of NCCI, MU, MUE edits and bundling rules.
• Proficient with Microsoft software and EMR systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Edit and review charges and medical documentation to determine codes and modifiers.
• Abstract outpatient and inpatient procedure reports and input charges into EMR.
• Communicate documentation discrepancies with coding staff and supervisor.
• Verify demographics, insurance and hospital charges for accuracy.
• Serve as coding resource and support escalated coding questions.
