Job description

Summary

The Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) is recruiting for an Employee Occupational Health (EOH) Physician. The (EOH) Physician will function within Primary Care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or osteopathic medicine from an approved school.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification; approved residencies include ACGME, AOA, or other deemed appropriate programs.
  • Residents enrolled in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Preferred: Occupational medicine or preventive medicine certification.
  • Physical requirements include active work with some bending, walking, and stooping.
Duties
  • Provide comprehensive Employee Occupational Health services, including serving as Medical Review Officer (MRO) and Agency Medical Officer (AMO).
  • Conduct fitness for duty exams, surveillance exams, and evaluate and treat injured employees.
  • Participate in educational programs and monitor quality and safety of care.
  • Engage in special projects, quality assurance, peer reviews, and attend management meetings.
  • Complete medical records per regulations, participate in committees, and attend CME activities.
  • Work schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
