Job summary

Valley Children’s Healthcare is seeking a Certified coder I to review provider documentation and perform coding functions within the professional billing workflow. You will assist with claims processing, edits, rejections, data entry, and physician queries, while coordinating appeals as needed.

The role requires CPC certification, at least two years of related coding experience (RHIT preferred), and knowledge of CPT/ICD-10-CM with outpatient surgery coding.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• CPC certification required (AAPC).
• Minimum two years related experience or RHIT certificate preferred.
• ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding experience for outpatient surgery records; anesthesiology coding experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and assign coding accurately.
• Assist with billing duties: claim edits, processing, rejections, data entry, and queries.
• Communicate with physicians on documentation issues related to code assignment.
• Draft letters coordinating appeals and other tasks as assigned by manager.
• Identify and help resolve incorrect claims issues.
