Position Overview

Our Coding Educators play a critical role at Banner Health. Join our team of forward-looking Physician Coding Educators who support Physician Practices and Profee Coding Teams. You will provide coaching to our Physician Coding team and Providers, with experience in E/M and Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Risk Adjustment coding, along with current Certification in Coding through AHIMA or AAPC.

Key Details

• Estimated Pay Range: $29.11 - $48.51 / hour, based on location, education, & experience.
• Department: Coding Ambulatory
• Work Shift: Day, Monday - Friday, flexible scheduling, 8-hour shifts.
• Position Type: Primarily remote, may require offsite travel.
• Position Summary: Develops education/training materials, conducts training, and provides technical staff training, including physicians/providers. Maintains training materials and conducts assessments and orientation.

Core Functions

1. Assess skills and develop education and training programs.
2. Plan and coordinate orientation for new hires.
3. Maintain education records and develop training programs.
4. Support trainees onsite and troubleshoot electronic applications.
5. Develop educational materials and promote standardized practices.
6. Collect data, compile reports, and ensure compliance with standards.
7. Stay current with Health Information Management Systems through ongoing education.
8. Work independently, utilizing analytical and creative skills, and train staff and physicians.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field, advanced training in Health Information Management, and certification (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCS-P). Must have over three years of healthcare information management experience, knowledge of medical terminology, regulatory requirements, and excellent instructional skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous training/teaching experience, customer service education, creativity, and adult learning principles knowledge are preferred.
