Our Coding Educators play a critical role at Banner Health. Join our team of forward-looking Physician Coding Educators who support Physician Practices and Profee Coding Teams. You will provide coaching to our Physician Coding team and Providers. Experience in E/M, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Risk Adjustment coding is required, along with current Certification in Coding through AHIMA or AAPC.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, flexible scheduling, 8-hour shifts.
Position: Primarily remote, may require offsite travel. Equipment provided by Banner Health.

Position Summary: This role involves developing educational materials, conducting training, and supporting staff, including physicians/providers. It includes creating training tools, conducting orientation, and providing ongoing education and updates.

Core Functions:

  1. Assess skills and develop training programs for new hires and staff.
  2. Coordinate orientation programs and define employment expectations.
  3. Maintain education records and develop task-specific training programs.
  4. Support trainees onsite and troubleshoot issues with electronic health information systems.
  5. Develop educational materials and promote standardized practices across regions.
  6. Collect data, compile reports, and present findings at meetings.
  7. Stay current with Health Information Management Systems through ongoing education and research.
  8. Work independently, utilizing analytical and instructional skills to train staff and physicians.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field, plus advanced training in Health Information Management and adult learning principles. Certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CCS-P required. Over three years of healthcare information management experience, with knowledge of medical documentation, regulations, and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in office software and healthcare applications is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous training/teaching experience and knowledge of adult learning principles are preferred.
