Job summary

Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI seeks an experienced physician to perform advanced cardiac procedures and lead multidisciplinary care. The role involves hospital admissions, consultations, and on-call coverage to deliver comprehensive patient care.

You will collaborate with a dedicated team including a thoracic surgeon, PAs, nurses, and schedulers, while engaging in discharge planning and quality initiatives to improve outcomes.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Advanced Clinical Care: Perform a wide array of procedures, including TAVR, Watchman, and MitraClip, alongside complex cases such as aneurysm repair, CABG, aortic replacement, AVR, and sternotomy.
• Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with a dedicated, multidisciplinary team comprising 1 Cardiothoracic Surgeon, 3 PAs, 1 RN, 1 MA, and 1 Surgery Scheduler, ensuring exceptional, coordinated care for every patient.
• Patient & Hospital Leadership: Serve as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients requiring hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, and participate in inpatient/outpatient consultations (including on-call schedules).
• Comprehensive Care Coordination: Partner with case management to coordinate thorough discharge planning and ensure appropriate documentation that meets insurance requirements.
• Quality & Academic Engagement: Champion cost-effectiveness and quality improvement initiatives, accept physician referrals, and participate in academic programs including medical education and research as requested.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • One or more of the following:
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
