Summary

Orlando VA Healthcare System's Specialty Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Cardiologist. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

1. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA Policy.
2. Medical Degree: Doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school.
3. Licensure: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
4. Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency in cardiology leading to eligibility for board certification.
5. Additional Qualifications: Board certification may be required for faculty status; residents in training may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision.
6. English Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
7. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical; capable of moderate lifting, reaching, using fingers, and other physical activities as specified.

Duties

• Participate in cardiac catheterizations at Lake Nona Campus, working with medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Provide comprehensive cardiology services, including outpatient, inpatient, and consultation care.
• Work collaboratively with primary care physicians and participate in quality assurance programs.
• Manage a general cardiology program covering clinical, administrative, academic, and research components.
• Share after-hours call responsibilities and participate in educational activities for trainees.
