Job description

Summary

The VISN 10 National Cardiology Hub and Spoke Network is recruiting for a Cardiologist position within the Battle Creek Spoke and Saginaw Spoke locations. The Cardiologist functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of patient direct care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the initial qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements
  1. United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable.
  2. Degree: Doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
  3. License: Full, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  4. Residency Training: Completed approved residency leading to eligibility for board certification.
  5. Additional Residency Info: Approved by ACGME, AOA, or deemed equivalent with verified practice experience.
  6. Residents: Enrolled residents in accredited programs may be appointed as PRPs under supervision.
  7. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  8. Driver's License: Must have and maintain a valid license.
Preferred Qualifications

MD degree, demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education, Board Certified (or Board Eligible if completing fellowship) in cardiovascular diseases.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Outpatient consultative cardiology, including telehealth.
  • Interpretation of non-invasive studies such as EKGs, Holter monitors, echocardiograms, and treadmill stress tests.
  • Commitment to VHA's mission, values, and vision.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Visual acuity, keen hearing, manual dexterity.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including walking, standing, sitting, and patient transfer.
  • Exposure to infectious and contaminated materials, potential for working in high-risk areas.
