Job description

Summary

The VISN 10 National Cardiology Hub and Spoke Network is recruiting for a Cardiologist position within the Battle Creek Spoke and Saginaw Spoke locations. The Cardiologist functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of patient direct care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be considered tentatively but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Existing VA physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

1. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed if qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA policy.
2. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.
3. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
4. Residency training approved by the VA in an accredited core specialty program leading to board eligibility.
5. Residents enrolled in accredited programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who are fully licensed but only perform certain duties under supervision.
6. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
7. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MD degree with demonstrated excellence in clinical care and education.
• Board Certified (or Board Eligible if completing fellowship) in cardiovascular diseases.

The successful candidate will have clinical responsibilities at designated spoke facilities, including outpatient consultative cardiology, non-invasive study interpretation, and consultative services. They must be capable of interpreting ECGs, Holter/event monitors, echocardiograms, and treadmill stress tests.
