Position: Physician Assistant - Surgical Oncology

Location: City of Hope, Duarte

The Physician Assistant works as part of a care team, collaborating with a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive patient care. The role involves independent and collaborative medical management of a defined patient population, following standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide primary, secondary, and, when appropriate, tertiary care within scope, licensure, and organizational policies.
2. Take histories, conduct physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and furnish medications and devices cost-effectively.
3. Perform accurate, concise, and relevant history and physical assessments.
4. Document consultations and new patient notes.
5. Perform routine inpatient and outpatient procedures as granted through privileges.
6. Manage follow-up patients independently, including ordering imaging and providing medical care and support.
7. Interpret imaging results and communicate with attending physicians regarding patient changes.
8. Prescribe and counsel patients on narcotic safety.
9. Demonstrate knowledge of pharmacology, including indications, contraindications, side effects, and interactions.
10. Review treatment plans with patients and families.
11. Practice evidence-based clinical care.
12. Instruct and counsel patients on health management, including diet, medication, and mental health, and refer to specialists as needed.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a master's degree.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• First Assist experience preferred.
• Current California Physician Assistant License.
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Current DEA registration.
• Salary range: $119,000 to $213,000, based on experience, qualifications, and location.
