Position: Physician Assistant - Genitourinary Medical Oncology

Location: City of Hope, Duarte

The Physician Assistant functions as part of a care team, collaborating with a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive patient care. The role involves independent and collaborative medical management of a defined patient population, following standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Providing primary, secondary, and, when appropriate, tertiary care within the scope of practice, licensure, and organizational policies.
  2. Performing histories, physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and furnishing medications and devices efficiently.
  3. Conducting accurate, concise, and relevant patient assessments.
  4. Documenting consultations and new patient notes.
  5. Performing routine procedures as permitted through privileges.
  6. Managing follow-up patients independently, including ordering imaging and providing medical care and support.
  7. Interpreting imaging and communicating with physicians regarding patient changes.
  8. Prescribing and counseling on narcotic use safety.
  9. Demonstrating knowledge of pharmacologic agents, including indications, contraindications, and side effects.
  10. Reviewing treatment plans with patients and families.
  11. Practicing evidence-based clinical care.
  12. Instructing and counseling patients on health management, including diet, medications, and mental health, and referring to specialists when needed.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a master's degree.
  • Preferred: Medical Oncology experience.
  • Current California Physician Assistant License.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Salary range: $119,000 to $213,000. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and location.
