Job summary

OrthoCarolina Ballantyne in Charlotte seeks a Physician Assistant to provide medical care under orthopedic physicians. The role spans in-office and independent clinics, evaluating injuries and illnesses and delivering comprehensive patient care.

Essential duties include exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostics, performing injections and wound care, managing treatments, documenting care, and coordinating with the care team to ensure continuity of care for orthopedic patients.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current North Carolina PA license.
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • At least 3 years experience as a physician assistant.
  • Prior orthopedic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Examines patients and performs comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons.
  • Performs injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans and records progress notes.
  • Dockets discharge summaries and maintains accurate patient documentation.
  • Assists in continuity of care across office and clinic settings.

We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant to work with one of our Providers at our OrthoCarolina Ballantyne office in Charlotte. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physician(s). Responsibilities include assisting the physician in the office setting and independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses.

Essential Functions

Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff. Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care. Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.

Skills and Abilities

Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention or referral. Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.

Qualifications

Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program. Current in the following: North Carolina PA license Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants At least 3 years experience as a physician assistant is required.
