OrthoCarolina Spine seeks a Physician Assistant to join a 100% clinic-based team with an OC Physiatrist in Charlotte. You will conduct examinations, order tests, perform procedures, and manage patient care across orthopedic services.

The position requires NC PA license, NCCPA certification, and prior orthopedic experience. Regular, full-time hours with collaborative practice and opportunities for professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.
  • Prior experience in orthopedics and physician assistant role.
  • Current North Carolina PA license, NCCPA certification, and hospital privileges.

Responsibilities

  • Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations with medical history.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests in collaboration with physicians.
  • Perform injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and cast management.
  • Develop patient management plans and document progress notes and charges.
  • Produce discharge summaries and keep accurate patient records.
  • Counsel patients on treatment adherence and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate care with physicians and staff to ensure quality care.
  • Participate in research and maintain licensure and hospital privileges.

Job description

We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant to work with one of our Providers at the OrthoCarolina Spine office location in Charlotte.This is a 100% clinic based role working with a OC Physiatrist.

Responsibilities include:

  • Examination of patients, performing comprehensive physical examination, and compiling patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection. Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes. Documents patient information and care provided in patient record. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Provides continuity of care by consulting with physicians and other staff as necessary for the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Participates in research studies as conducted and agreed upon by the physician. Maintains all requirements and documentation for state licensure, DEA licensure, NCCPA certification, and hospital staff privileges.

Education required:

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.

Experience required:

  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant

Current in the following:

  • North Carolina PA license,
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants,
