Job summary

State of Michigan through the Michigan Veterans Homes seeks a Physician Assistant to support physicians in Grand Rapids and Chesterfield Township. The PA provides medical assessments, performs procedures, and delivers primary clinical therapy to a geriatric resident population under CMS guidelines.

Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science in Medicine, NCCPA certification, and a Michigan PA license; experience is flexible, and education may be substituted in some cases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medicine required; substitution allowed for PA program completion.
• NCCPA certification and Michigan PA license required.

Job description

Assists the Physician as a health care practitioner under the scope of the Physician Assistant license. Provides medical assessments, performs medical procedures, and provides primary clinical therapy to the members at the Michigan Veteran Homes Grand Rapids or Chesterfield), CMS-certified 128-bed long-term care facilities. Members that reside in the home are primarily a geriatric population.

This position has openings at two locations: Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids and Michigan Veteran Homes - Chesterfield Township. Please indicate in the questions section which location(s) you would be interested in.

Education

Possession of a bachelor of science degree in medicine.

Experience

No particular type or amount is required.

Completion of a professional, physician assistant program may be substituted for the education requirement.

Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and possession of a Physician Assistant license issued by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
