Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas license for PA or NP.
• NCCPA certification for PA or ANCC/AANP certification for NP (FNP preferred).
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain.
• BLS certification active.
• EHR proficiency.
• Willingness to rotate weekends and holidays.
• DOT certification required or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in urgent care.
• Manage acute illnesses and injuries; occupational health visits.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies (labs, X-rays, EKGs).
• Perform urgent care procedures (suturing, wound care, splinting, I&D).
• Communicate diagnoses and discharge instructions clearly.
• Document care in EHR; code and bill services.
• Maintain productivity aligned with urgent care benchmarks.
• Practice in line with NextCare standards and values.

Position Summary

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team at our Waco – Hewitt clinic.

This role is a great fit for a clinician who enjoys variety, autonomy, and meaningful patient care in a fast-paced urgent care setting. At NextCare, you will treat patients of all ages while being supported by experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, and accessible medical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs
• Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, I&D, and other procedures as applicable
• Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR
• Code and bill services appropriately
• Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks
• Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
• PA: NCCPA certification
• NP: ANCC or AANP certification; FNP required
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain
• Ability to treat patients of all ages
• Active BLS certification
• EHR proficiency
• Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays
• DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered per policy

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience
• Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D
• Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read
• Comfortable working independently in a busy urgent care environment
