OrthoVirginia’s Ortho On-Call clinics are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join an experienced team of providers. The role covers urgent orthopedic injuries with board-certified physicians and full-service therapies supporting patient care.

Open 361 days, with weekend/evening shifts as needed; compensation ranges from $111,200 to $166,800, with a comprehensive benefits package and paid malpractice. Virginia license required or eligible.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or eligible in an appropriate medical specialty.
  • Active Virginia medical license or eligibility for VA license.
  • DEA license required.
  • 2+ years orthopedic or Emergency/Urgent Care experience.
  • Excellent communication and patient-facing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose and treat patients of all ages in urgent care.
  • Urgent care duties; weekend/evening shifts required.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Perform fracture/dislocation reductions and joint injections.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment and medications.
  • Document charts and administrative data in a timely manner.

Ortho On-Call is a growing Urgent Care and we are currently hiring a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. This position will join our exceptional team of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and sports medicine physicians and will ensure our teams continue to deliver quality care in a patient-focused setting.

Ortho On-Call’s walk-in urgent care clinics are designed specifically to treat acute orthopedic-related injuries and conditions and are supported by the board-certified physicians and full-service therapies of OrthoVirginia. The successful candidate will be a qualified and compassionate provider with a licensure to see all age ranges.

Primary Functions & Accountabilities
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages for immediate health care needs, as well as provide employer services.
  • Urgent care responsibilities. As we are open 361 days a year, weekend and early evening shifts will be required.
  • Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests
  • Fracture/Dislocation reductions/management, laceration repair, joint injections
  • Instructs patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plan and medications
  • Consults with physicians when warranted to assess patient condition and treatment plan
  • Ensures that medical charts and administrative paperwork are completed in a timely manner
  • Performs within guidelines of specific privileges approved by the governing body and delegated by the Medical Director
  • Provides support to medical and office staff
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to assess situations, resolve within scope of ability, or elevate as appropriate
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies, actual events, or drills
  • Ability to follow instructions and make decisions with little supervision
  • Ability to maintain professional demeanor in all aspects of role
  • Travels between facilities when indicated
  • Strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills
Candidate must have experience in:
  • Sports injuries Sprains & strains Slips, trips, falls
  • Hand & wrist injuries Foot & ankle injuries Knee/shoulder injuries
  • Cuts & lacerations
  • Back & neck injuries
  • Broken bones
  • Sports physicals (NOVA & RIC)
  • Work-related injuries
Position Requirements
  • Board Certified/Eligible
  • Prefer 2+ years of orthopedic experience or practice in Emergency/Urgent Care clinical/hospital setting
  • Active/current state medical license and eligible for a VA Medical License
  • DEA License
  • Physical health to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position

Compensation Range for this position:

$111,200.00 - $166,800.00
