Physician Assistant – Phase 1 Cancer Clinical Trials Program

Join a leading oncology research team and play a critical role in advancing innovative cancer treatments through early-phase clinical trials. We are seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and research-focused Physician Assistant to provide clinical care and support patients participating in Phase 1 cancer studies.

About the Role

The Physician Assistant will work closely with physician leaders, research staff, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to deliver high-quality care to patients enrolled in early-phase oncology clinical trials. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine direct patient care with cutting-edge cancer research, helping bring new therapies to patients while ensuring protocol compliance and exceptional clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct patient assessments, review medical histories, perform physical examinations, and provide ongoing clinical management for patients enrolled in Phase 1 oncology trials.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and manage adverse events and treatment-related toxicities in accordance with study protocols and scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and families regarding clinical trial participation, treatment options, potential risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, research coordinators, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and protocol adherence.
  • Document clinical findings, patient encounters, and treatment plans accurately within the electronic health record.
  • Write and manage medical orders and contribute to the development of individualized patient care plans.
  • Support regulatory compliance, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards, and clinical trial requirements.
Qualifications
  • NYS Physician Assistant License and Registration required.
  • 1–3 years of experience caring for oncology patients required.
  • Prior clinical research, therapeutic trials, or grant‑funded research experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
