Job summary

The Physician Assistant in the Phase 1 Cancer Clinical Trials Office at Montefiore Medical Center will work closely with the Disease and Modality Team Leader, Attending Physicians, and Program Director to screen eligible patients for trials and provide care on early phase cancer studies.

This grant-funded role writes orders for RNs, supports medical staff, ensures protocol and GCP compliance, and documents care in the EHR while collaborating with the clinical research team to deliver integrated

Qualifications

• Master's degree is required.
• NYS Physician Assistant license and registration required.
• 1–3 years' experience with cancer patients required; prior clinical trials/grant-funded project experience preferred.
• BLS card; OHS fit test and annual assessment are required.

Responsibilities

• Review patient histories, perform physical exams, and manage medical care for cancer patients in early phase trials; provide treatment and supportive care.
• Explain study participation, treatment options, and potential side effects to participants.
• Assess patients for adverse events and ensure protocol and GCP compliance.
• Write medical orders for RNs and ensure documentation is up to standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, researchers, and clinic staff to deliver integrated treatment plans and maintain open communication.
