Job summary

ChristianaCare in Newark, DE, seeks a Physician Assistant for its inpatient OB/GYN group. This full-time position includes day/evening 10-hour shifts with weekend rounding and on-call duties at Wilmington Hospital and Christiana Hospital.

The PA will admit patients, perform histories and physicals, develop treatment plans, assist in OB/GYN surgeries including Cesarean sections, and provide patient education and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Delaware licensure or license eligibility required.
• NCCPA certification required.
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, OBIS training for EFM/OB-GYN recommended or required.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients on behalf of the supervising physician and perform H&P.
• Develop treatment plans and order/interpret diagnostic tests; document progress.
• Assist in OB/GYN surgeries and procedures, including cesarean sections and IV placement.
• Educate patients and families, discharge planning, and obtain consents as needed.
• Support in rounds and post-operative care as directed by supervising physicians.

ChristianaCare is hiring a Physician Assistant for its inpatient OBGYN Physician Assistants Group. The position is full‑time day/evening, 10‑hour days with weekend rounding and call. Services are provided at Wilmington Hospital (Wilmington, DE) and Christiana Hospital (Newark, DE).

Responsibilities

• Admit patients on behalf of the supervising physician
• Complete history and physicals
• Develop treatment plans
• Make rounds at the direction of the supervising physician
• Record progress notes
• Order, assess, and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, such as medications, treatments, and examinations
• Initiate referrals to appropriate physicians or other healthcare professionals
• Instruct, educate, and counsel patients and families regarding health status, test results, disease process, and discharge planning
• Participate in discharge planning
• Obtain consents for procedures for which privileges are held
• Perform core duties including IV placement, blood draws, injections, dressing changes, OB and GYN procedures, wound closures, removal of sutures, debridement of wound infections, and removal of foreign bodies
• Assist in surgery first and second assist in the operating room, including but not limited to Da Vinci robotics, laparoscopic, and open procedures as well as cesarean sections

• Biopsy (cervical, endometrial, skin, vaginal, vulvar)
• Cystoscopy
• Pelvic floor training
• Pessary insertion and removal
• Provider‑performed microscopy (urine, KOH, Wet Prep)
• AROM, BPP
• Circumcision of newborn
• Colposcopy
• Fetal scalp electrode placement
• Hysterosalpingogram
• Insertion of Foley bulb for induction
• Removal of subdermal contraception, IUD placement
• Intrauterine pressure catheter placement
• Ultrasound

Special Requirements

• Licensure or license eligibility for Delaware
• NCCPA certification
• BLS, ACLS, NRP, OBIS training for EFM, US in OB/GYN

Annual Compensation Range: $119,583.00 – $153,472.00
