Responsibilities

  • Provide primary and specialized health care to patients, including examination, diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute illnesses.
  • Write prescriptions and perform routine office procedures within scope and protocols.
  • Educate patients and families on health issues and care plans.
  • Participate in health promotion activities and clinical care planning.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with policy.
  • Refer patients to specialty services when appropriate.
  • Support physicians with on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Record statistics and assist in research as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff and physicians to identify patients' needs and develop care plans.

Summary

Please Note: Eligibility to work in Grant County is 4 years of experience.

Provides primary and appropriate specialized health care services to hospital and clinic patients. Performs examinations and provides treatment to minor/routine problems; performs or orders diagnostic test; establishes diagnosis; prescribes medication; instructs patients and family members about continuing care.

Position Reports To: Practice Manager

Essential Functions
  1. Provide primary and specialized health care to patients. Examination, diagnosis, and treatment of both chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Refers to physician as needed.
  2. Writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment.
  3. Educates patients and families and helps them understand issues related to physical and emotional health.
  4. Participates in health promotional activities.
  5. Participates in decisions, planning, and policies related to clinical care.
  6. Maintains accurate and complete patient records in compliance with organizational policy.
  7. Refers patients to specialty services when appropriate.
  8. Provides professional medical services within the scope of training and responsibility, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and organizational policies.
  9. Support physicians with on-call responsibilities as required.
  10. Records statistics and conducts research as deemed necessary.
  11. Collaborates with staff and physicians to identify patient’s needs and help develop plan to meet those needs.
  12. Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
