Job summary

Chestnut Health is seeking a compassionate Physician Assistant to join our physiatry team. This role focuses on restoring function and independence for patients through collaborative care with therapists, nurses, and physicians.

New graduates are encouraged to apply; licensed PAs in PM&R preferred and experience in rehabilitation adds value. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, document in EMRs, and educate patients and families about the rehab process.

Qualifications

• Active PA license in the state of employment.
• Eligible to work in the United States.
• Current NCCPA certification or eligibility is a plus.
• Orthopedic or Physiatry rehabilitation experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement rehabilitation plans.
• Perform patient assessments, including histories and physical exams, to determine goals and interventions.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans to optimize functional outcomes and independence.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and educational activities to enhance care.
• Document evaluations, plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in electronic medical records.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families about the rehab process and post-discharge care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for patients with diverse rehabilitation needs
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations, to determine appropriate rehabilitation goals and interventions
• Monitor patient progress closely and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize functional outcomes and promote independence
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and educational activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of initial evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries in electronic medical records systems
• Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding the rehabilitation process, expected outcomes, and post-discharge care

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Actively licensed as a Physician Assistant in the state of employment
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Current Controlled Substance License is a plus
• Current DEA license is a plus
• Orthopedic clinical experience is nice to have
• Physiatry clinical experience is nice to have
• Skilled nursing clinical experience is nice to have

License/Certification:

• Active NCCPA certification as a Certified Physician Assistant is a plus
