Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care services in a correctional setting. You will join a team of physicians, PAs, NPs and other health care professionals.

Minimum qualifications include AMA-approved PA program graduation or NCCPA certification, Nebraska PA license, valid driver’s license, and passing pre-employment exams.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program or NCCPA certification.
• Current Nebraska PA license.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to pass pre-employment exams (medical and drug test).
• Experience in correctional/institutional settings preferred, CPR/ALCS certification preferred (required within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care services within a correctional setting.
• Collaborate with physicians, PAs, NPs and other health care staff to deliver care.

The NDCS is seeking to hire a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide primary health care services. Selected candidate will be joining our staff of Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and other health care professionals.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an American Medical Association approved Physician Assistant program or have passed the National Commission Certification examination; supervisory experience helpful.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working as a Physician Assistant within a clinical setting or equivalent experience. Work experience as a Physician Assistant in a correctional or institutional setting. Current CPR/ALCS certification preferred (required within one year of hire).

Other

Certification and current license as a Physician Assistant in the State of Nebraska. If no licensed applicants are received, applicants who will be graduating from a PA program within the next three months will be considered. Must possess a valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
