Position Summary

The Trauma/Acute Care Surgery and Orthopedic Physicians Assistant is responsible for providing care to and coordinating the care of the Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Orthopedic Patients at CHMC, ensuring they receive optimal care throughout their hospitalization. The primary goal is to ensure trauma patients receive quality care, both directly as an expert clinician and indirectly as a consultant, change agent, educator, and quality improvement agent. The PA collaborates closely with Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, ancillary personnel, patients, and their families to develop an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. The PA reports directly to the Trauma Program Director, with a reporting link to the Trauma Medical Director. They also contribute to developing standardized procedures and protocols and assist in meeting departmental goals and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Provide care and coordinate treatment for Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Orthopedic Patients.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assist in developing protocols and standardized procedures.
  • Support departmental goals and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute setting working with trauma, orthopedic, and ICU patients.
  • Surgical and Trauma training.
  • Experience as a first assist, H&P, assessment of trauma patients.
  • Current PA license, ACLS, PALS, BLS certifications required.
  • Auditing ATLS skills is desirable.
